“Fringe” (Alternativo) se refiere al festival cultural en el que participan los jóvenes futuros artistas. El Festival Alternativo comenzó en Edimburgo, Escocia, y se ha propagado por sus países vecinos, y actualmente se festeja en unos 70 países de todo el mundo. En Corea se ha venido celebrando desde el año 1998, comenzando con el Festival Artístico Independiente.

El Sendero Forestal de la Línea Gyeongui, también llamado Yeontral Park, es un parque urbano lineal situado en el distrito de Mapo-gu de Seúl. Los tramos se inauguraron en el siguiente orden: Daeheung-dong, Saechanggogae, Changjeon-dong, Sinsu-dong y Wonhyo-ro. El parque está formado sobre las antiguas vías de ferrocarril de la línea Gyeongui, y en su subsuelo corren las actuales líneas de metro y ferrocarril Gyeongui-Jungang y el Ferrocarril del Aeropuerto. El parque fue diseñado de forma incompleta para que pueda ser completado por los ciudadanos. Es muy significativo que los espacios que pudieron haber quedado en blanco hayan sido llenados por espacios verdes y parques gracias a la participación de los ciudadanos.

The roads here tend to be narrow and crowded, and there are cars that run along the alleyways so visitors are advised to to take special care to ensure safety.

Hongdae es el hogar de la juventud, el romanticismo y la cultura alternativa. Son las cafeterías, galerías, tiendas de suvenires, boutiques de diseñadores, Free Market y restaurantes de carácter muy marcado, lo que convierte a Hongdae (abreviación de Hongik Daehakgyo que significa Universidad Hongik) en un lugar tan especial y único. En Hongdae hay salas de teatro exclusivas para B-boy y se forma el Free Market y el Hope Market, donde es posible encontrar artículos artesanales hechos por los artistas más creativos. Aquí, también hay muchas calles temáticas como la calle de las academias de dibujo y pintura, calle de clubes, calle Picasso, etc., que son otra razón para visitar este lugar.

AK Plaza Hongdae es un gran centro comercial ubicado justo frente a la salida 4 de la Estación de Hongik Univ. de la línea 2 del metro. Desde su apertura en 2018, ofrece una variedad de contenido, incluyendo cultura infantil, K-pop, etc. reflejando las características juveniles del barrio de Hongdae. El local de cinco plantas es popular entre jóvenes y turistas extranjeros, con una variedad de tiendas temáticas como animé, cultura callejera y accesorios para fans del K-Pop. Also referred to as “Tto-tteok,” Ttobogetji Tteokbokki is a popular tteokbokki restaurant with many branches in Seoul. Upon order, tteok (rice cake), egg, eomuk (fish cake), and three different vegetables are served together. Additional menu such as noodles, fried potatoes, and fried rice are also delectable.
